My generation-older brother caught me up in tales of dragons and telepathic horse protectors by Anne McCaffrey and Mercedes Lackey (and you can bet they were his well-thumbed copies!). As an adult, I kept those authors, but I added Laurell K. Hamilton, Gini Koch, and too many others too count - primarily paranormal, SF, urban-fantasy, and dystopian chicks.
